Song Lyrics We Misheard…But Sung Anyways

Sweet Dreams are Made of This – EURYTHMICS

Well we all have our experiences with singing songs whose lyrics we never knew. We therefore ignored or ignorance and dropped a few lines in that were waaaay different from the actual thing. Kajue has gotten to understand that songs are mostly butchered by Jamaicans…or maybe not! But we have these type of blunders world-wide as stated by a couple of people we have interviewed. Therefore without any further comments and in no particular order, here are a few we were given:

  • (Church Hymn) Jesus have a grandchild up in heaven. Jesus have a grandchild up in heaven, have a grandchild…

Lyrics: Then I saw her face, now I’m a believer. Not a trace of doubt in my mind…

Tessanne Chin Blasts the Voice with a Stellar Rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing”

Well readers, it’s now down to the wire and trust mi, after last night, my heart was swollen to the peak. Tessanne Chin can sing and this is not an overrated statement. For someone to do a Whitney Houston song and do such justice to it, it’s really worth recognition.

Last night’s performances by the final three contestants Will Chaplin, Jacque Lee and Jamaican powerhouse Tessanne Chin were quite over the top but it was clearly shown that there was no match for Tess-Awesomeness…Chinita Goodaz burst out of the pack. Cupping a first place on the iTunes chart, Tessanne, as coach Blake said, is clearly the winner because we all have eyes to see what happens on iTunes.

Okay people, I am sure you all would agree that Christina Aguilera knows exactly how to ride the last nerve. I am sure, none of her comments about her own contestants are below 15 minutes. She goes on and on and on and on about Jacque Lee being 16 and how she is young and gifted and how much closely they have been knitted since the competition and how they are like sisters and how she is speechless when Jacque sings (even with her commentary afterwards) and how Jacque Lee is the winner already and yadda yadda yadda and some more yaddas and a million more information to last us a lifetime. They both later rendered a performance, which according to major comments, was like two sisters singing in the bathroom above the sound of the shower. NBC, unuh tek some hints…duh, ah beg o!

Will Chaplin did give a good performance but I really thought he could do a lot more with that song (Everything I Do I Do It For You by Bryan Adams). He is indeed a good vocalist but I thought nerves got the best of him last night. He, however did the best he could at this point. Anyways, I thought his first performance was better than the last.

Jacque Lee, oh brother! She really has potential but I think she fell into the wrong hands…honestly. What a battering her voice took. Why on God’s green earth did Christina give Jacque a soulful black woman’s song to sing? Dear Lord, visit if yuh nuh busy! Poor Jacque, every time the high notes came, she busted out into the most honorable pickachu. Honestly, I couldn’t even hear a word in the songs she sung. Then the theatrics of her falling on her knees to the ground and jiggling her body…I wondered if Micheal Jackson took her over.

Having said all, without bias, Tessanne is clearly the best vocalist in the competition. This could even be seen in the group performance. Tessanne was the one to hit all the high notes (the clean, right notes). Tessanne has done, R&B, Rock, Reggae, Gospel…could we want more? So many celebrities are tweeting about Tessanne being the one for the win. Thank God Tessanne chose Adam for a coach…yes Lord! You lead and direct. So, without bias, having watched her performances, what do you think? Isn’t she the most consistent contestant by far?

African Fashion….Hot or Not?

African Fashion....Hot or Not?

Colours, curves, style…words that rightly describe African Fashion. I must admit, Africans are innovators of style and fashion. I have had hands on experience of Jamaicans watching African movies. First they are all good relaxed then boom! an African lady walks out in a design. Jamaicans then be like: “Blouse! Yuh see dah style deh? Pause it! Ah wonder if mi dressmaker can make one like that?” Yeah that’s a common expression.

Really, African ladies always look good in their designer clothing. Is what dem put in the fabric mek it just “stay so”. And darlings, it doesn’t matter how many colours are in the fabric, they know exactly how to accessorize…mi grudge dem yuh see?

Its a pity African material is so expensive in Jamaica…smh. I for one think that if African material and food were to be giving away to some Jamaicans, dem woulda go pon fasting and tek di material…ah naa lie. Big belly or slim belly, fat leg or small leg, African material gifted fi hide any flaw.

These are some of the African fashions Kajue just had to upload and after looking. Do you think African Fashion is Hot or Not?:

Jamaica Island A Boom

IAAF Sports Man and Woman of the Year: Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce

IAAF Sports Man and Woman of the Year: Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce

Well my readers, whenever the world “used” to hear of Jamaica, it was basically through a gun movie in a ghetto where guns and drugs and explicit language was being echoed. Or, folks would come and do video shoots of ghettos in Jamaica, the war ridden island that is poverty ridden and contaminated with crime. Thank God planes and ships existed so the world would know that Jamaica is far more than that. Yes, we do have our negatives (as do other countries) but our Island has beautiful beaches, great mountainsides, great wetlands, tasty recipes, a former Miss World, talented people, the IAAF Sports man and woman of the year amongst others….so stuff that nay sayers. Last night I watched with maximum pride as Tessanne ripped The Voice apart…oh my God, mi head, toe, all mi eye swell…mi waan cry, mi waan scream, but most of all, mi waan jump inna di TV and give Tessanne a real Jamaican big up for her performance. Then, to make matters better, who dat in the crowd supporting Tessanne? Yes mi dears, Usain “Lightening” Bolt himself, the man who every nation on earth want to touch, the man whe mek bride and groom run whe lef dem wedding f i go meet, the fastest man in the world (I say it without water in my mouth).

Mi seh Tessane just caressed Universal Studios with Gladys Knight’s “If I were your Woman” and I watched as the lyrics pulled and released Adam. Then what a bang! Chinta goodaz tek ova Tessanne and like Digicel, the performance ended with a boom chikka ching ching! Woii, fi mi Island a boom. Well, if anybody asks, to be in the line of these great Jamaican, yuh caan learn it, yuh caan study it, yuh haffi born inna it. Dem a go tiad fi si wi face…wi ago tek it to dem….chat bout!
